The Perspectives on Fasting from the Three Main Religions in Malaysia

          Fasting can be generally defined as restricting oneself, willingly, from certain or all food, drinks or both, for a period of time. In the medical field, fasting is usually indicated before certain medical tests and anesthetic surgeries, where a patient is required to be unconscious and unable to feel pain. Indeed, fasting has been proved to have positive health effects. McKie (2012) found that stopping all food in-take for one or two days a week could protect the brain against Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. His findings parallels to the work of Mosley (2013) who suggested on a new dieting idea: one can eat anything he likes for five days in a week and still lose weight – as long as he fasts for the remaining two days. The Ups and Downs in Preparing for Exams

          I could still recall the culture shock I had when I started Form 4. It was a time of decision where my school limited the choice to only Accounts or Science stream to major in. There I was thinking the Science stream was the path I needed to follow on, having the general Science dissected into Chemistry, Physics and Biology. The detailed scientific terms, formulas and equations were too much to handle at times. Don’t even get me started on Additional Mathematics – never once a class passed by without a confused, lost expression on my face. Continue reading

Reflecting on Asasi TESL Interview in UiTM 2014/2015.

Keep in mind that, a student with 11A+ can even fail miserably when it comes to college interviews – for the lack of self-confidence and inability to create an idea or argument concerning a certain issue on-the-spot.
The interviewer (he/she) wouldn’t even look at your SPM slip for the second time, she won’t even care how your shawl is beautifully placed, he won’t even bother how shaky your hands are out of nervousness – what the interviewers expect in the 10-minute duration is how YOUR personality shines through. What makes you, you. What sets you apart from the hundreds of other cloned candidates.
